From your follows
From your follows gathers the links people you follow on Bluesky are sharing and brings them into your reading, one article at a time. Nothing is ranked by engagement, and the list ends.
It’s a source, like a feed you subscribe to. Its links arrive in a channel called From your follows, under Feeds in the sidebar, and the week’s most-shared links also show up on Home as Shared by people you follow.
Turning it on
Section titled “Turning it on”On a new account, Home asks first. Under See what people you follow are sharing, choose Allow access, confirm on your account provider’s page, and you come back to Home with the week’s links ready to read.
If you were already reading on Skyreader, Home asks too, in a box called New: links from people you follow where the lane will go. Allow access works the same way. Not now hides the section; turn Shared by people you follow back on under Customize to be asked again.
The first time you open Everything, a box at the top asks whether to add your follows’ links there. Add them to Everything turns it on; Not now leaves Everything as it is. You’re only asked once.
You can also go to Manage Sources and find Links from people you follow. Skyreader asks to read your Bluesky Following timeline. Choose Allow, confirm on your account provider’s page, and you come back still signed in. You only do this once.
However you allow it, Skyreader makes the From your follows channel for you. Delete it and it stays gone.
Skyreader never posts anything with it. It reads the same timeline you see in Bluesky, so anyone you’ve muted or blocked stays out.
What counts as a share
Section titled “What counts as a share”- A post or quote post with a link in it.
- A repost of one. The person who reposted it counts as the sharer.
- A quote of someone else’s link post. It counts as a share by the person quoting, and their words go with it.
Replies aren’t included, and neither are links back to Bluesky itself.
Reading
Section titled “Reading”Each link reads like any article in the channel. It’s dated by when it was first shared, and Shared by says who shared it. Open it to read it in the reader. It isn’t saved unless you save it. Mark it read, or open it, and it leaves the unread list like everything else.
When people you follow share an article that’s already in your feeds, you see it once: the article, with Shared by on it.
Open any article, from a feed, your saves, or anywhere else, and if people you follow shared it, they lead its Discussion, marked You follow, with what they said. People you follow narrows the discussion to just them.
Everything and other channels
Section titled “Everything and other channels”Your follows’ links show in Everything only if you said yes to that. Change it any time with Links from people you follow in Everything’s Sources filter, or Show them in Everything too on Manage Sources. They never add to your unread counts.
The From your follows channel is an ordinary channel. Rename it, change its filters, or delete it. To add your follows’ links to another channel, edit that channel’s sources, choose Include only, and check People you follow on Bluesky.
A channel with your follows’ links in it can also sort by Most shared: the links the most people you follow shared come first, newest first among equals. An article from your feeds counts the people you follow who shared it too. Pick it from the sort menu, or under Sort Order when you edit the channel.
What’s kept
Section titled “What’s kept”Skyreader keeps the links it finds for a week, then deletes them. They’re stored privately on Skyreader’s servers and only you can see them. Which ones you’ve read is kept with the rest of your read state.
A link that can’t be read in Skyreader opens in a new tab instead.
