Search
Search finds things by what they say: a phrase you remember from an article last spring, a word from a note you wrote in the margin. It covers everything you’ve read, saved and highlighted in Skyreader, and your notes.
Search is part of the Supporter plan.
Searching
Section titled “Searching”Press / anywhere in Skyreader, choose Search from the sidebar or the view switcher, or on your phone tap the search button in the bar at the bottom of the screen. Search opens over whatever you’re reading, so closing it puts you back where you were. Start typing; results appear as you go, best matches first. Choose a result to open it in the reader, and close the reader to get back to your results.
Use the buttons under the search box to narrow it to what you Saved, Highlighted or Read.
| Type | Finds |
|---|---|
tidal energy | items with both words, in any order |
"tidal energy" | the exact phrase |
tid* | words starting with “tid” |
energy -wind | items with “energy” but not “wind” |
Searching for “glacier” also finds “glaciers”.
What’s searched
Section titled “What’s searched”- Saved and highlighted articles: the whole text.
- Articles you’ve only read: the title and the opening of the article.
- Your highlights and notes: every word, and a match there ranks higher.
Notes you write in Margin or Semble outside Skyreader aren’t included yet.
The first time you search, Skyreader builds your search index from your reading history. With a long history that takes a few minutes, and results fill in while it works.
Privacy
Section titled “Privacy”Your search index is private to you. It’s kept on Skyreader’s servers and built only from your own reading, so nothing about what you search for or find is published.
Offline
Section titled “Offline”Search needs a connection. Offline, you can still search your saved articles, which are kept on your device: search offers this when you’re offline, or open Saved and press the search button.
